The Edo State House of Assembly has passed a revised appropriation bill of N44.8 billion, sequel to Governor Basaki's request to accommodate ongoing projects and inflationary deficits.
Speaker Blessing Abaku presented the bill, which seeks to address economic realities and complete outstanding projects.
In another development, the House passed a bill establishing an agency to protect the rights of vulnerable citizens, provide legal representation, and facilitate dispute resolution through alternative means. This move aims to promote social justice and empower indigent citizens.
Furthermore, the Speaker declared vacant the seat of Sunday Aghedo, representing Egor Constituency, due to alleged abandonment of duties and relocation to the United Kingdom. The House resolved to conduct a bye-election within 90 days, following a petition by constituents alleging neglect and disrespect.
