Edo State Launches Smart Meter Program for Residents

In a bid to bring relief to residents, the Edo State Government has launched a smart digital prepaid meter program, aiming to provide every household with a meter.

Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Prince OJ Inu, appreciated Dr. Betsy Obaseki for supporting the vision to make Edo State great again through the O-POWER plant.

Governor Obaseki stated, "We want to regulate the market to make it 'pay-as-you-go'. If you use N2,000 worth of light, you pay N2,000." He emphasized the importance of the mass metering program to ensure everyone has access to electricity.

First Lady Betsy Obaseki commended the state leadership, particularly the Commissioner for Mining and Energy, for enhancing the state's development. A total of 500,000 meters were approved for Edo State residents in collaboration with BEDC.

BEDC's Managing Director, Mr. Adu, appreciated the citizens' support over the past decade and promised to satisfy their yearnings. The event featured a lecture by the MD of New Hampshire Limited and goodwill messages from guests.
