Edo 2024: Security Operatives Deployed, Roads Blocked

As Edo State prepares for the highly anticipated gubernatorial election, security personnel have been deployed en masse to ensure a peaceful and secure voting process. With voters already arriving at their designated centres, the Nigerian Army and police have blocked major streets and roads across Benin City.

The heightened security presence is evident at key junctions, including Agho and Joromi, Ekenwa road, where military operatives have sealed off both sides, restricting motorist access. Similar blockades have been set up at Oba market Road, Ebiwe, Forestry, and Mission road junctions.

Additionally, the Army and police have secured strategic locations such as Sonkpoba junction, Sapele, and Airport roads. Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) are stationed at Akakpava road, adjacent to the Central Bank of Nigeria, serving as a visible deterrent.

These extensive security measures aim to prevent potential disruptions and ensure a seamless electoral process. As the electorate casts their ballots to choose a successor to outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki, the security forces remain vigilant, committed to maintaining law and order throughout the state.
