Nigerian international and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly turned down a staggering €40 million annual salary offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, despite a €75 million transfer agreement already in place between the two clubs.

Al-Hilal, managed by Simone Inzaghi, had initially offered the 26-year-old forward a contract worth over €30 million per year, which was later increased to €40 million in a bid to finalize the deal. The Saudi giants had also agreed to activate the full €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract with Napoli, positioning them for a swift medical and contract signing.

However, the highly anticipated move has now stalled following Osimhen’s refusal of the personal terms.

“BREAKING: Victor Osimhen has rejected Al Hilal’s proposal,” Fabrizio Romano posted on his official X account.

“Despite an agreement between clubs on a €75m fee, Osimhen says no to the Saudi Pro League club. Galatasaray will now insist on signing him, with the race open again.”

Osimhen’s decision has reopened the transfer market race for his signature. Turkish champions Galatasaray, where the striker spent last season on loan, are reportedly renewing their efforts to sign him permanently.

The Super Eagles forward enjoyed an outstanding season in Turkey, scoring 37 goals and contributing eight assists in 41 appearances. Despite Galatasaray's clear interest, their previous inability to meet the €75 million valuation by Napoli posed a significant challenge.

Now, with Al-Hilal ruled out of contention, Galatasaray could reignite negotiations, though the financial terms remain a major hurdle. As the summer transfer window continues, Osimhen's future remains one of the most closely watched developments in European football.
