Police Arrest Social Media Provocateur

KADUNA — Authorities in Kaduna have confirmed the arrest of a man accused of inciting unrest through social media posts. The individual, identified as Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, also known as Dan Saudia, was apprehended during a targeted police operation in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, detailed the circumstances of the arrest, which took place on Sunday.

“The command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of one Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, popularly known as Dan Saudia, a self-acclaimed social commentator,” Hassan said.

According to the statement, the suspect is believed to have consistently used social media platforms to disseminate inflammatory and misleading content aimed at unsettling public peace.

“He is notorious for making inciteful and misleading comments on social media platforms with the intent to disrupt public peace and security,” Hassan added.

Abubakar was reportedly apprehended during a raid on a location identified by law enforcement as a black spot for criminal activity. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found in possession of a substantial amount of what police suspect to be Indian hemp, and was also caught smoking the substance.

The suspect remains in custody, and police say he will be formally charged once investigations are concluded.
