With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco fast approaching, Uganda national team captain, Khalid Aucho, has sent a strong message to their group opponents, including the Super Eagles of Nigeria, ahead of the continental showdown.

Uganda were drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, and Tanzania’s Taifa Stars—a line-up considered one of the toughest in the tournament’s group stage.

Speaking to CAFonline, Aucho acknowledged the strength of their opponents but expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to rise to the challenge.

“It’s not an easy group. These are big nations, all with ambitions to top the table. But we also know our capabilities,” Aucho said.

“With the experience we’ve added to the squad, we can combine well and compete. It will be tough, but I believe we can advance to the next round.”

The 2025 AFCON will mark Uganda’s ninth appearance at the tournament, with Morocco set to host the prestigious continental competition.
