Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has spoken publicly about the death of her son, Raymond Ekwu, eight years after the incident.
Prime 9ja Online reports that the actress shared the account during an interview, recounting the events leading to her son’s death in 2017 after a long battle with sickle cell disease.
She alleged that a medical error during treatment at a Lagos hospital contributed to the tragedy.
According to her, a student doctor mistakenly removed blood from her son instead of performing a transfusion.
“I removed three pints of my source blood. So by the time I came back with the blood, I saw that my son had turned yellow and was getting jicized and that's how they said they want to carry my son to ICU. Long story short, the doctors came, they were bringing oxygen. Long story short, that's how my son died.”
Her remarks have renewed discussions about patient safety and oversight in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
