Portable reports himself to the Ogun police command

Habeeb Okikiola, commonly known as Portable, a prominent singer, has reported himself to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

This was in response to a police request that the artist report to the nearest police station or face arrest for his role in the alleged attack on a young man just described as DJ Chicken.

The attack was documented in a video that quickly went viral.

On June 20, the police issued an order for him to report to any station near him or face arrest.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said in a statement released on Thursday that Portable reported on Wednesday.

“The artiste reported at Eleweran at about 5 p.m. with his father and manager. Upon arrival, Portable was immediately ordered to be taken to the Public Complaint Bureau office by the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, where he was interrogated about his role in the assault meted to the boy in the video,” he said.

However, according to a police official, he has been released on bond.

When the workers' strike in Ogun State is called off, Oyeyemi hinted that he would be punished shortly.

He said that the strike had disrupted judicial proceedings.

“However, since the offence committed is a bailable one, and coupled with the strike embarked upon by the civil servants in the state which also affected our courts, the suspect was released to a reliable surety who promised to produce him anytime he is needed.

“Assaulted victim has also been invited to come and state his own side of the story to enable the command complete her investigation on time,” Oyeyemi said.
