Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Netherlands centre back Matthijs de Ligt.

De Ligt signed for the Italian giants in 2019 after starring in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi finals and while he was initially behind Giorgio Cheillini and Leonardo Bonucci in the pecking order in Turin, he soon established himself in the starting XI and impressed.

90min understands the two sides reached a verbal agreement on Sunday night, with Bayern set to part with over €80m – €70m guaranteed and €10m in add-ons – to sign the 22-year-old.

A five-year deal had already been agreed with De Ligt, so all that remains is a medical and official confirmation.

The Netherlands international had been strongly linked with Chelsea, who confirmed the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly earlier this week.

De Ligt was impressed with the project proposed to his representatives by Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
