The Super Eagles midfielder is expected to have a huge impact at St. Mary's the upcoming season after receiving an iconic jersey.

Ahead of the next Premier League season, Southampton has given Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo the recognizable jersey number 7.

Aribo only recently relocated to England this summer after leaving Rangers for Southampton in a €7.1 million deal. The Nigerian midfielder, who appeared in 57 games for the Gers last season, had a significant impact on the team.

Ralph Hasenhüttl, the manager of Southampton, has spoken highly of the 25-year-old, and it appears that he will include Aribo as a crucial member of his starting lineup in the upcoming campaign.

The Super Eagles star has been given Southampton's prestigious number 7 jersey, replacing Shane Long, who just departed the team for Reading.

Long, a striker for Southampton who made 243 appearances and registered 37 goals and 27 assists, is replaced by Aribo.

Some of the most lethal strikers to ever grace the Premier League have worn the number 7 jersey.

The Southampton jersey was worn by Belgian striker Matthew Le Tissier, who amassed 101 Premier League goals. Additionally, the club issued the number to Kevin Phillips, who scored 93 Premier League goals between 2003 and 2005.

During his five-year tenure with the team, former Liverpool player Rickie Lambert wore the shirt.

Aribo faces a challenging task, but he can take encouragement from his previous two seasons with the Rangers.
