Abdulhamid Umar Mohammad, the Northwest Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked Igbo people all throughout Nigeria to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party's presidential candidate in 2023.
Mohammed claimed that compared to the other presidential contenders, the former governor of Lagos State has done more for the Igbo.
The APC Youth Leader declared that it is now time for the Igbo to repay the favour by supporting Asiwaju Tinubu in overwhelming numbers in the general election of next year.
Muhammad, who referred to Asiwaju Tinubu as a detribalized leader, remembered that the former governor of Lagos State welcomed the Igbo when they migrated from the Southeast in large numbers.
According to the APC youth leader, the act of kindness gave them the chance to succeed in their companies.
In contrast to the Southeast, where hoodlums force traders to stay at home, Asiwaju Tinubu's plan has created Lagos an environment that allows the Igbo to run their businesses without any obstacles.
In a statement he personally signed, Mohammed said: “Asiwaju ran an inclusive government and was among the pioneer governors who started appointing non-indigenes as state executives. Numerous Igbo have benefited from such administrative initiatives.
“He appointed an Igbo man from Anambra State, Ben Akabueze, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget for eight years, 1999-2007.
“The Yoruba, the Igbo and other non-indigenes residing in Lagos State benefited from his Free Education. He gave your children free education in Lagos. History will also not forget that Asiwaju, as the then Lagos governor, set up superb business environment for the Igbo to strive.
“As it stands, Lagos remains one of the best places conducive to run business as there was never a time when hoodlums enforced sit-at-home on traders as it is currently observed in the Southeast,” he said.
