Aminu Tambuwal: Atiku Abubakar will reopen Nigeria’s borders

Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State, declared on Saturday that the nation's borders will be reopened in 2023 if Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party, were to win.

This assertion was made at a PDP election rally in the state's Illela Local Government Area. The PDP Presidential Campaign Council's Director-General made the declaration.

He asserts that the PDP presidential candidate has more practical ideas for the nation. Some of these, he said, was “reopening the nation’s borders,” dealing with issues of insecurity, and giving Nigerians access to “basic necessities of life.”

The governor continued by saying that his administration in the state felt deeply for the people of Illela, as it was one of the hardest impacted by bandit attacks.

However, he continued, “we have executed several projects under healthcare, education, water supply, and social interventions, among others, despite problems of insecurity, economic recession, and the negative impact of COVID-19.”

Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman, the Director General of the Sokoto Campaign Management Council, urged voters to choose the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) so that “continuity in governance” could be ensured.

Malam Sa’idu Umar, the PDP’s nominee for governor, has promised that if elected, his administration will give the Illela International Market project the priority it deserves.

Umar claimed that he was responsible to the state’s citizens as a whole. He said he would continue Tambuwal’s work and launch new infrastructure initiatives if elected.

Alhaji Mannir Dan’iya, the PDP’s nominee for senator in Sokoto North and the state’s current deputy governor, defended the current administration.

He also mentioned that the PDP had numerous plans for Kware LGA in the 2023 budget, and he urged the people of the state to return the favour by voting for the PDP.
