Femi Falana: It will be hard to impeach Osun tribunal’s judgement

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria named Femi Falana has said that it will be tough for Ademola Adeleke's attorneys to overturn the decision of the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal.

You may recall that the tribunal declared the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, the winner of the gubernatorial election that took place on July 16, 2022, after removing Adeleke from office for overvoting at more than 700 polling places.

Falana urged Osun State voters to sue the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for damages as a result of the wasted votes in an interview that aired on Arise TV on Sunday.

He said that because the commission had thrown away their ballots, the voters in particular locations should sue INEC for damages.

“Looking at the judgement, I believe very strongly that it is going to be a daunting task to impeach the judgement. INEC has to be held completely responsible for what happened.

“INEC will have to go back to the drawing table so that we will not have this experience. INEC will have to put its house in order, If we have this in a presidential election, where you issue one or two reports, it will have a crisis of monumental proportion.”
