A father has been detained in Ibadan by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, on suspicion of defiling his daughter, who is 11 years old.
This information was provided in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ibadan by the state's NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Oyindamola Okuneye.
According to Okuneye, the 33-year-old suspect, who is from Ede in Osun, dwells in Ibadan's Olodo neighbourhood.
The man has acknowledged having had carnal knowledge of the girl, according to the NSCDC spokesperson.
A 46-year-old suspect who is accused of defiling a 10-year-old girl has also been detained by the command.
She claimed that on January 15, the suspect rode his bike with the victim to a desolate road outside Ibadan's Alakia neighbourhood, where he used his finger to pierce and violate her.
“It was gathered that the suspect used to go to the girl’s mother’s shop to drink locally made herbs and used the opportunity to get closer to the girl,” Okuneye said.
Okuneye said that the state NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, pledged that the two suspects would be charged in court after the completion of the investigation.
He urged residents to support security agencies with information on the violation of children anywhere in the state. (NAN)
