Nyesom Wike: Politics can’t ruin my relationship with Udom Emmanuel
The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that despite having different political philosophies from the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, their friendship has endured.

He emphasised the need of keeping politics out of brotherly connections.

At his private residence in Rumueprikom, the Obio/Akpor local government area of the state, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and the governor of Akwa-Ibom State met with Wike yesterday.

While acting as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council's chairman, Udom paid a personal visit to his counterpart in Rivers State.

The meeting, according to the governor of Rivers State, was friendly and no mention of politics was made.

He said: “Politics is not what will divide brothers and divide friends. Everybody knows my relationship with Udom, and we will continue to maintain that relationship.

“We may have different political affiliations or thinking, but that should not divide the brotherly love or create a gap among us.”

The governor of Akwa Ibom State echoed Wike’s sentiments, saying that his trip was not political but a gesture of goodwill in honour of the holiday season.

He declared, “Actually, this is the season of love. Within this period, if we don’t demonstrate that love, love not shown is love wasted. I think that is what we are trying to demonstrate; brotherly love, and friendship. And then in the spirit of the season, we must visit one another.”

Governor of Nigeria’s Benue State, Samuel Ortom, said they talked about improving the country’s leadership.
