2023: Chukwuma Soludo canvasses votes for APGA candidates, shuns Peter Obi

Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra, has urged residents to support all Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates so that the state's government can function effectively.

On Tuesday, Soludo addressed his party's supporters during a political event in Onitsha's Akpaka Government Reserved Area (GRA).

He claimed that if voters supported all of the APGA candidates, democracy would benefit the populace.

Mr Edward Ibuzo, who is competing for the Onitsha Federal Constituency, is described by the governor as a selfless man who solely thinks about what is best for the constituents he represents.

He claims that although most people only consider what will benefit them, Ibuzo considers what will benefit his people rather than just himself.

“That is why I resolved to do the Akpaka-Nsugbe road that he pleaded for that his people need urgently.

“So I promised him I will do the road because, in APGA, we fulfil our promises.

“My predecessor, Obiano, promised me of becoming the next governor after him, and I also promised him support which I fulfilled. So in APGA, it is a promise fulfilled.

“So, if you people vote APGA candidates, especially for those contesting for State House of Assembly, whatever they present to me will not be delayed; it will be endorsed.

“But if it were to be from other parties, it will not be given the attention it deserves,” he said.

The governor was commended for his One Youth, Two Skills Initiative initiative, which he established to help young people become self-sufficient, by Mr Patrick Mba, the Commissioner for Youth Development. The project, according to him, is going nicely.

Mba claimed that Soludo was a governor who consistently carried out his commitments. He added that Soludo had improved Anambra during his brief tenure as governor.

Also, Harold Ekwerekwu, the APGA candidate for Onitsha North constituency II in the House of Assembly, pledged to do well, particularly with regard to roads and other facilities.
