The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reports that it has started distributing non-sensitive materials to each of Nasarawa State's 13 local government areas in advance of the general elections.
On Tuesday, the commission additionally acknowledged receiving both sensitive and non-sensitive election-related materials.
The materials were anticipated to reach the local government offices of the commission well in advance of the elections, according to Dr Uthman Ajidagba, the resident electoral commissioner for Nasarawa State, who was inspecting the vehicles used to transport the materials from the INEC state headquarters in Lafia on Tuesday.
He clarified that the second level's deployment of non-sensitive materials was done to enable prompt distribution to Registration Area Centers and Electoral Wards around the state.
Dr Ajidagba said that the non-sensitive materials include mats, ballot boxes, voters' cubicles and election bags.
In Benue state, INEC’s Public Affairs Officer, Terkaa Andyar, while responding to questions from journalists in Makurdi said: “We have received ballot boxes and sleeping mats which will be used in Registration Area Centers, (RACs).
“We have also received the voting cubicles and other consumables such as ink pads, stamps, and calculators among others. We have received the Biomodal Voter Accreditation System, (BIVAS) and other forms that will be used before and on election days.”
