Just In: EFCC Arrests Ortom’s Campaign DG with N100,000 Cash

The Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign council, Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly being in possession of N100,000 cash. The incident happened on the morning of the governorship election in Benue State.

The arrest was confirmed by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, who spoke to journalists after voting in his hometown of Gbajimba in Guma LGA. He criticized the arrest, saying it was a shame that the EFCC would arrest someone for possessing such a small amount of money.

The governor urged the EFCC to release Tyokyaa immediately, emphasizing that the campaign official was not buying votes. He said he himself had more than N100,000 but was not buying votes.

The EFCC has yet to respond to requests for comment on the incident.
