Chief Akin Osuntokun declared on Sunday that Saturday is the most important day of decision-making and that it is likely the last chance for Nigerians to decide whether to pursue the genuine change they so earnestly desire or keep wallowing in suffering.
Osuntokun is the Labour Party's (LP) Director-General of the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
Osuntokun addressed a crowd of party supporters from all 16 Local Governments of the state in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, during a Town Hall Meeting.
He asserts that the upcoming elections will reveal whether Nigerians are actually prepared to rewrite their fate and steer a new, productive course for their country.
The former Presidential Advisor promised Nigerians that if Obi were to become the country's next president, their suffering under careless leadership would be lessened.
All Labour Party supporters across the nation, including party agents, were urged by Osuntokun, a former managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), to increase the pace of mobilisation for Peter Obi.
He promised that, soon after winning the election, the Labour party's nominee for president would swiftly handle the majority of the problems the nation was experiencing.
The State Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Odunayo Okunade, a lawyer who also spoke, declared that the Labour Party would govern Nigeria and uphold family values precisely in line with the demands of its logo, which features a father, mother, and kid.
The women's leader of the party in Ekiti, Mrs Wendy Obi, called on voters in the state, especially women, to make sure they vote massively for the labour party in order to free themselves and their children from the current hardship, showing faces in almost all facets of life. He noted that the labour party was the only party in the country that had respect for the lives and well-being of Nigerians and would, therefore, not let Nigerians down with its human face.
She vowed that under Peter Obi's leadership, Nigerians would never look back on their decision to elect him as their country's next leader.
Earlier, in his welcome speech, Mr Moses Jolayemi, the Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Ekiti, urged voters to turn out on Saturday to elect Obi and his running mate as the nation's next president and vice president, assuring them that the candidates and the party would keep their word.
He instructed party members and agents to start going door to door to spread the word about Obi's potential as the leader of a new Nigeria.
He predicted that Obi will win the election on Saturday by a wide margin and counselled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prevent BIVAS manipulation by opponents of progress both inside and outside the Commission.
” It is crystal clear that Peter Obi will win the coming election in a free, fair exercise, especially if INEC does not compromise the use of BIVAS.
Commenting on the logjam that greeted the recent Naira redesign and cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Ekiti PCC coordinator said Labour Party was on the same page with the policy but was dissatisfied with its hasty and irregular implementation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries at the town hall meeting were: National Financial Secretary, Mr Gbenga Daramola, Youth Leader, Comrade Kola Agbede, State Secretary, A. Adesua and all the 16 Local government party Chairmen, among several others.
