The third consecutive postponement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally today, Monday, February 13, has exacerbated the internal crisis roiling the Taraba State chapter of the APC.
The party abruptly cancelled the gathering on a late Sunday notice in Jalingo.
The gathering has been postponed for another day, according to the unexpected statement, due to a "lack of a favourable atmosphere."
Party members were instructed to gather on Monday to welcome Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC's presidential candidate, according to a previous announcement.
Since no specific justification for the abrupt postponement was provided, there have been other debates about how the internal crisis may have reached a breaking point and a dead end.
Checks revealed that the most recent postponement might not be unrelated to the illegitimate primaries held on Friday by the APC faction led by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha.
The Supreme Court's unanimous decision to invalidate the primaries that resulted in Senator Emmanuel Bwacha's election and remove him signalled trouble for the APC.
Additionally, there needed to be more capacity for a new primary election.
Surprisingly, Bwacha and his team held new primaries last Friday despite all five other candidates for governor boycotting the process.
Since then, each of them has petitioned INEC.
The last time the presidential rally was postponed, it was explained away as a mix-up with the cash.
According to reports, Bwacha stole money that belonged to Jaji Sambo, the minister of transportation and chairman of the organizing committee.
