According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it is nearly 90% ready to conduct the general election in 2023.
This was said at a stakeholders meeting in Kaduna by Mr Auwal Mashi, the administrative secretary of Kaduna INEC.
He said that the commission conducted effective mock accreditations to evaluate the BIVAS machine's efficiency and usefulness.
“Satisfactorily, the machines were perfectly okay. I can assure you that God willing, we will not have any problems with our machines.”
Mashi said that the owners of around 408,000 new Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and 228,000 PVCs that had been moved from other areas had gathered their cards.
He claimed that the Central Bank of Nigeria had already safeguarded key election documents (CBN).
Mashi claimed that INEC and the CBN were working together to ensure that there would be enough money to ensure a smooth election process.
Political figures, traditional and religious leaders, as well as other attendees, participated in the gathering, which included a questions-and-answers session.
The Commission allayed concerns that it would be unable to hold the elections due to a lack of funding by reassuring the public that it has all the resources necessary to conduct the general elections in 2023.
Mashi stated that the Commission has obtained all of the monies necessary for the conduct of the general elections during a stakeholders' meeting and training of members of the Kaduna State Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
