Ebonyi Governor Urges Focus on Governance, Swears in New Officials
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has urged against excessive congratulatory visits to elected and appointed government officials.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Grace Umezurike, and the Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Echiegu, the governor emphasised the need to shift focus towards governance and fulfilling campaign promises.

He stated that government activities would intensify after the inauguration of commissioners.

"We will hit the ground running and stop visitations which we have used the past two weeks to do," declared Governor Nwifuru. "It is time to face governance as time waits for no one." He expressed confidence in his administration's ability to deliver good governance and highlighted the importance of women's inclusion in decision-making processes.

"I assure the new SSG of my cooperation as women have become the fulcrum of my administration," he stated. "This is unusual, but it is a good development for the state." The governor acknowledged that his appointments had surprised many people and called for patience from those who were not appointed. He encouraged them to continue praying earnestly, as there may still be opportunities for appointments in the future.

Governor Nwifuru revealed that he would inaugurate commissioners on June 20, further solidifying his administration's structure. Additionally, he swore in several aides during the ceremony, including Mathias Adum as Principal Secretary and Timothy Nwachi as Deputy Chief of Staff.

The governor's remarks underscored his commitment to prioritising effective governance and delivering on the promises made during his campaign. With the swearing-in of key officials, the Ebonyi State government is poised to tackle the challenges ahead and work towards the development and progress of the state.
