The club provided no reason for the omission of France's captain from the 29-player squad that will travel to Japan. However, the squad will include Mbappe's younger brother, 16-year-old Ethan Mbappe, as well as PSG's other superstar, Neymar.
Despite his absence from the tour, Mbappe has been actively participating in PSG's pre-season preparations.
In a training-ground friendly against Le Havre, he played the last 30 minutes and even scored a goal. In May, Mbappe stated that he would not extend his PSG contract, which is set to expire next year, but expressed his desire to stay with the club for one more season.
"I still have a year left on my contract, and I am going to honour my contract," he declared. This decision would make him a free agent next summer, enabling him to leave PSG without a transfer fee.
PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi responded to Mbappe's announcement earlier this month, insisting that the player "must sign a new contract."
Khelaifi stressed that they cannot afford to lose the "best player in the world today" for free and gave Mbappe a "maximum two weeks" ultimatum to either sign a new contract or leave the club this summer. Interestingly, the two-week timeline aligns with the team's departure from Japan.
If Mbappe does not sign a new contract, PSG will have to sell him during this transfer window to avoid losing him without compensation at the end of the next season.
The possibility of Mbappe's move to Real Madrid has been a topic of speculation. Last year, he was expected to leave for the Spanish club, but he ultimately signed a new deal with PSG. Real Madrid remains a potential suitor, particularly after their former striker, Karim Benzema, left for Saudi Arabia.
Kylian Mbappe's journey with PSG began in August 2017 when he joined the club on a season-long loan from Monaco, immediately after helping Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title.
The move became permanent the following year, involving a massive €180 million deal. He has since become a pivotal figure in football, helping France win the 2018 World Cup and contributing significantly to PSG's successes.
Last season, Mbappe emerged as Ligue 1's top scorer with 29 goals, while netting 41 in 43 games for PSG across all competitions.
With PSG now under the management of Luis Enrique, the team is set to begin their Asian tour against Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia in Osaka on July 25, followed by matches against Cerezo Osaka and Inter Milan in Tokyo.
The tour will conclude in Busan, South Korea, against Jeonbuk Motors on August 3.
